Yesterday the setting for ski-touring was perfect (sunny, Sunday, good snow..) and with a long caravan of 8 youngsters, we certainly added to mass tourism in the mountains. My plan was to attack Srednji vrh, which is relatively safe from avalanches and still very attractive for skiing. However, when we reached the pass Šija (1693m), our ever ambitious Burek and Jerro turned North, and I quickly figured what they were plotting - Vrtača (2181m high and everything but safe from avalanches). Burek has an interesting philosophy about extreme skiing; he says: "Nigga, you either die... or you don't!" Well, it wasn't long before we all followed them - one after another. It later turned out that the snow was more stable than I thought. The winter scenery and the views of foggy Ljubljana were perfect, while we skied into the valley and yodeled from joy. Group picture from left to right: Zor, Jerro, Jano, Burek, Leon and Artač. Brin was taking the picture while my old pal Mare was digging a bunker in the forests below - he forgot the skins for climbing and decided to test his avalanche shovel. (alpinistic skiing: III-)
