Grintavec! (2558m)

If Rodica is the Queen, then Grintavec must be the King! That is why Ana and I took it a little more serious and went to sleep on Kokrško Pass (1793m) on Thursday evening. It wasn't long before the night caught us, however, walking in the moonlight was more than beautiful. We quickly got comfortable in the winter room and were enjoying the luxury of 3 degrees Celsius:) Later in the night Dadi and Rok joined us, and so the dream team was complete. After a couple hours of talking and joking around we went to sleep - and what a sleep it was! I would be very optimistic to say that I slept for 30 minutes - because it was probably more like 15:) The cold, moisture, excitement combined with Rok's extreme snoring gave Dadi, Ana and me the possibility to ponder about life and to dream about better nights.

Next morning, Dadi was the first to "wake up." He set his alarm 30 minutes earlier, so that he could enjoy his morning ritual of chewing his porridge made from boiled millet. Dadi is an old school veteran and he doesn't enjoy luxuries like sandwiches, chocolate, etc. After a few failed attempts, Ana, Rok and I also managed to get out of our warm sleeping bags and joined Dadi at breakfast. When we took off around 7:30, the sky was still clear, however, it quickly decided to spice up our climb with some wind, fog, snow and a blizzard-like environment. Towards the top, the mountain gorge got quite steep (up to 50 degrees) and now the joke was over. When we reached the top, the sun was just saying his last goodbye and we absorbed the last rays and enjoyed the glorious moments. Dadi and Rok went so far, to spend 10 minutes digging out a snow sofa so that they could peacefully enjoy their lunch. Check out how the kings feast on the picture above. The skiing was quite extreme, because the snow was hard and icy.. however our mood quickly jumped up when we reached the Kokrško Pass and the snow became soft as cotton. We were screaming and jumping around in excitement and probably looked like three kids that just got back their toys. Ana was also enjoying romantics, with her dear crampons - of course. At the bottom we went for beer and coffee and smiled at another unforgettable adventure. (Aplinistic skiing: -IV, S4)
