Just before our mountains pulled on their winter clothes, Leon and I decided to explore Rjavina (2532m) for future skiing adventures. We quickly found ourselves in shiny forests with golden larches showing-off their autumn glory. Our only companions were hairy chamois, which didn't bother much with our presence. We actually approached one to a few meters and Leon quickly started thinking of a warm chamois goulash for supper (in the end we concluded that only Marko Hraščak would be able to make such a kill:). We slept in one of my favorite winter rooms at Dom Valentina Staniča (2332m), while there was nothing "winter" about the weather. We cooked rice with salmon, drank beer and sunbathed for the rest of the afternoon. I can conclude that Rjavina has many skiing possibilities and that autumn mountaineering can definetly pay you dividends.. in gold!
